Yes, things had improved over the last several years due to spiritual growth — but I would still have sleepless nights fairly frequently. I felt doomed to suffer in the sleep department because I considered myself a night person and my adopted culture was very much a morning culture. So I was continually tired on those days when I had to wake up and perform early.
Thanks to this program, I have a better understanding of the science of sleep. Knowing that recommendations are science-based was a strong motivator.
For example, I had heard other places that a cold shower in the morning was a good thing. No way was I going to do that. I hate cold water.
Now I am taking the recommended 1 minute cold shower every morning. I’ve always felt ‘different’ and that most advice didn’t pertain to me. Now that I know that I am a dolphin, that yes I am different and that there is advice custom tailored to my chronotype, it was much easier for me to take the advice. I now have much more confidence about my ability to sleep well consistently.
Most remarkably, I find that with the wake up vigorous walk followed by a cold shower that I have greater energy, greater mental focus, and surprisingly enough — a spaciousness of time in front of me so that I can be more productive.
I have made some great changes in my life that I know shall continue to support my new sleep lifestyle.
