I grew up in a very hostile environment. I didn’t know it at the time but I was born Autistic, and ADHD and have had several highly intrusive sensory issues through life. The way my family chose to “help me,” was to discipline me. Needless to say this discipline not only didn’t work but turned into cruel everyday abuse. I grew up in a small town with a big family and realized I was Gay at 14 but it was abundantly clear that my only way out of my situation was to go to college and I knew that very young.
My Grandfather was a life long learner so when I was grounded to my room for 3 years in elementary school, even though I had developmental delays and struggles I took speed reading courses, and gobbled up any information I could find, including med students texts books, math books, really anything and everything I could, and especially books my Grandfather bought for himself. I borrowed books and programs regularly. I have taken several courses on this App.
At about 14 I was introduced to meditation so I went out and bought a book or 2 by Burt Goldman. I think maybe it was there, perhaps there was an ad in the back of the book. I don’t recall how I came across it but I did. I found the Silva Ultramind system on CD. I purchased the program in early high-school from the money I earned working at an ice cream shop.
I was struggling as I had lost my 4.0 G.P.A. I was closeted and very alone, and I had an autistic burnout that caused me to miss a lot of school. Not only that, I could no longer use my coping mechanism of running as I was still enduring abuse for which a swift kick to my shin caused it to break. I ran on it for 3 years regardless.
Coming upon the Silva method I was able to train my brain in a more structured way to build myself back up to the point I not only got into several Ivy League schools but I got full tuition rides. My parents impeded my way then so I spent my all my money going to visit my best friend who was the German exchange student. I came back and had an inspired idea to quit my jobs and tell my parents if they were going to keep me from growing, they could take care of me for the rest of my life. Needless to say, they had me enrolled the next semester.
I started in an Engineering based Design Program and used those techniques of getting into Theta to be a conduit of unique solutions and learn how to draw these designs using only marker, colored pencils, and pastels without taking any drawing class before in my life.
There were some twists and turns along the way. Brake in school. Over 20 odd jobs that were pretty prolific actually. I graduated with my associates then my bachelors at 2 different institutions years later. I simultaneously worked designing more shoes than any first year to my knowledge multiple times over all while finishing my thesis. Throughout the years I purchased and used many programs that were based on the Silva Method. Getting into Theta was absolutely key to my survival, finding a career, and a wife that loves me very much.
I’m at a place in my life where I need to rebuild from the ground up after finding out I was autistic and processing that. I can’t wait to get back retraining my brain again and even though I have my old CDs. I have nothing to play then on so here we are.
This program has been the most influential training I’ve gotten in my life, and it’s one place I feel hopeful I can help myself change the trajectory in a more positive and supportive direction for my family and me. I’m 40 now and I’m ready for this chapter to be better than ever before.
