What a great story I'm about to tell you !
I am usually a very private person and not present on social networks. But today, I wanted to give hope to others like me. So here I am to share my journey and this very personal success to tell you it is possible...
Here's my true story. As I was to turn 55 in January of 2023, I was dealing with a major plantar faciitis which had been going on for 7 months and I also had been suffering from chronic arthritis pain over the last 25 years (and had a hip replacement in 2019).
It was a challenge going out with my puppy Golden, climb any stair and get down and up from a yoga mat. I was barely able to lift up my arms without wincing, certainly not do one single incline push up, so imagine lifting weights...
Thanks to Ronan and Monique - who kept me motivated with great care - it took me 27 weeks and 6 months to complete my first 10 X program… all by myself !
I say first because now that I can move, I will do it again changing the exercises, with the intention of loosing my body fat (I weight 139 for 5 feet tall) and push my limits...
So, on December 30, I bought home gym equipment from Ronan's list and installed it on the 31. I also printed the whole program and all tips and put it in a 2 inch binder so I would not depend on technology to track my progress.
On January 1, 2023, I did the AMRAP test, and started the trial process.
As I did that, I made decisions : 1) to extend to 6 months the 10x quest for me as to my PHASE 1 of my « Getting my body back program » and 2) I would stick to it until I could finish the program and be able to complete a big 6 session with 3 rounds of 12 to failure for each exercise.
I started Week 1 on January 16, 2023. Today, on July 16, I ticked my last box this morning with a pride and a happiness I can't express...
Although I experienced a bonus of loosing 7 pounds and 4 inches of waist in the process, this is nothing compared to what I really achieved...
Today, I train 4 x /week and move the other 3 days with stretching and running 15 mins intervals at a pace of 7 with an inclination of 8 on my Promaster treadmill. I can lift up to 10 lbs in push exercises, 25 lbs in dumbbell lifts, 20 lbs in squats, lift myself up 5 x with the bar over my door and... do 3 rounds x 12 knee push ups! :-) Me!! LOL. And oh! when I climb the metro stairs, I have springs instead of legs... :-)
Over the past 6 months, I also changed job and I had to take care of important family situations as well, but I woke up at 5 in the morning no matter what was the weather or I felt in my body.
I did go down my basement, put the music on and completed each training, improving one at a time. As the weeks and months passed, I became a much better version of myself.
This was princeless to me…
As the song THE BEST - from the great Tina Turner – was over (it was my sign to tell me I had the permission to tick my box), a stronger will and pride was building inside.
Now, I'm setting up new goals as I travel with this new body of mine, but most importantly, I have new mindset, respect and greater love and compassion for my own person.
I gave myself the biggest gift possible : a new chance to live a much better and satisfying life.
I decided to share my story as a message of hope to the world.
No matter what your situation is, you can improve a little.
THIS IS POSSIBLE. YOU CAN DO IT.
Here's the recipe that worked for me.
1) Commit to yourself first.
2)Then set up chunkable goals.
3)Trust the process.
4) Just do it until you finish it...
5) Celebrate every day this great little victory by ticking your box.
You'll be proud. Feeling great. And become an inspiration to others.
Thank you Mindvalley. Thank you Ronan. Thank you Monic. You have changed my life forever.
With 10Xtreme gratitude, keep up the great work!
Julie xx
