When younger it was easy to exercise, easy to recover and easy to eat whatever I wanted! As I matured (do you like how I frame that – screw “getting older”!) it seemed every year over 40 was a harder year on my body. At 45 I decided to take Vishen’s advice. I needed to ask myself – “Am I operating on exercise principles 1.0? Do I need an upgrade?” And so I registered for the Longevity Blueprint.
Now - to the quest and the routines it provides. In short – It has been fantastic.
Before the Longevity Quest, my exercise routine on most days was wake at 5am, at the gym at 5:20am, workout, home by 6:45am for a quick shower and drive to work. Every morning I woke with a stiff and sore back, and many mornings with some other part of my body stiff as well. I trained hard and felt compelled to do so. I struggled to fit consistent meditation into my routine which was something I really wanted to achieve given the clear and consistent messages regards its benefits.
Now, 4 weeks into the Quest I have a new routine which I LOVE. I wake every morning at 5am with my wife. We meditate for about 20 minutes together until about 5:25am which is AWESOME. Finally I have this in my routine and I am loving it. We then do a fasted fat burning walk for 40 minutes until about 6:10am. Although this is great exercise, I count the exercise as the cherry on the cake. The real benefit here is the 40 minute block I now have every morning with my wife. It is a fantastic routine and one that is giving us even more time and ability to share and grow our love further. A real blessing.
At night while we chat as a family or relax to music or the TV, I incorporate some foam rolling or core foundation work. And here is another amazing benefit. I have suffered with backpain for a number of years following a sports related injury. I have tried physio, massage, stretching, alignment and other methods to no avail.
4 weeks into the Quest I have found that the mixture of new shorter exercise routines and core foundation work with occasional foam rolling has significantly reduced my pain to almost zero. I cannot understate how amazing that makes me feel.
Further, the contrast shower is a great little wake up and finisher to the day. This is a great example of something else that has helped me throughout the quest.
And then there is the tribe. What an amazing group of individuals. Each on their own journey. Each with their own stories to tell. Some streaking ahead with their results, others less so. But all moving forward whether they realise it or not.
There is no doubt the Quest has helped change my routine and give me a new, improved operating system: “Version 2.0 - Minimum Effective Dose Exercise Operating Principles”.
I am loving it!
