The themes of the contest were “Unity in Diversity and Stronger Together” as well as “Build Back Better and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs2030)”. The caption for the image is: 17 Goals, each one, a strand capable of having significant impact on our Societies. However, when woven together, working as one, Humanity is provided a Lifeline to lift itself out of the dark challenges we face Worldwide.
The creation came at a time of great turmoil for me in my personal and professional life and the creation of this image draws on 29 years photographic experience as well as recent unpleasant upheavals in my life. Through it all I envisioned these 17 Goals that the U.N. wants to achieve by 2030 as a Lifeline for all Humanity, I saw the goals as integrated, symbiotic and not segmented as their icon looked in the form of a wheel. After submitting my image in January, an extension was announced adding to the doubt and turmoil. I was so convinced that I was going to win the contest that I turned the Lifeline into wearable art which I wore to the prizegiving. I began writing press releases and developed an advance proposal of using Humanity's Lifeline, as a vehicle to help NGOs and charity's with their fundraising efforts across all of the 17 SDGs.
I wrote the United Nations for permission to use their SDG icons in conjunction with Humanity's Lifeline in order to help raise awareness of the 17 SDGs on a product line that I was hoping to develop. They wished me well but did not give permission. i was approached by an NGO that I assisted some time ago and contributed my work for a silent auction to raise funds for The Shelter - A safe haven for victims of domestic abuse. We have agreed that 75% of the auction will go directly to the shelter while 25% reverts to me in order to fund a product line associated with Humanity's Lifeline as well as to work with their residents and other at risk groups in producing the actual Lifeline for signalling for help, for fashion accessories etc and as a means of the residents earning income.
We hope to share the process and the image with other NGOs globally, in order to spread the message that we all need to be each other's Lifeline. The pandemic had affected my country tremendously and as I explained to the fundraising committee of the shelter, Artists like myself, who want to help are pouring from an empty cup, yet we still have to find a way to share, to help, to do what we can to help others who need a Lifeline. I created the Lifeline at a time I too needed a Lifeline, as the prize money went directly to paying my rent. Now all these ideas came from a time of great turmoil and personal uncertainty, yet my focus remained on saving The World in order to save myself. After the meeting on the 18th March, I felt good about my decision, but the doubts still prevailed. All this time however for the last five months, I have been taking walks in nature as often as I could, as a former martial artist I have had some training in meditation practise, I believe in vision boards and affirmations, but none of it was structured until I decided to open on of the Mindvalley ads on Facebook.
The 6 Phase Meditation appealed to me, the idea of hacking my mind resonated with me simply because I realized that there was no structure to my method.
On March 21st, 2021 I watched the video and followed along . . . I came out of that meditative state simply wanting re immerse myself into it. So I prepared myself and followed the guided meditation tour again, this time I remained so immersed in it that a little over two hours had passed, I was not asleep but it was as if my spirit was repairing itself.
I came out of it feeling better than I had felt in a very long time. 5 minutes later as I sat in my chair, the phone rang and a potential client who had been following my positive posts on Facebook call to ask me about how it is that I am always so positive, I told her that everything I do has always come from a place of love, I shared with her some deeply personal stories and that I always believed that the universe was always guiding me.
I sent her the link to the 6 Phase Meditation, sharing with her that I had just that moment come out of a very deep and meaningful experience.
The rest of the week has been transformative, I relish going to sleep, my coffee intake has been very much reduced, from 3 strong cups a day to 2 this week, and I did not feel for it. My sleep pattern changed, I go to sleep at a respectable time and get up naturally before 5:00AM looking forward to meditating.
I started listening to other Mindvalley talks while on my walks and came upon the lofty questions, and THAT has been a game-changer.
I now have assignment commitments, new assignments, and the phone is ringing with offers of work. This is just the beginning, and in one week I can feel the universe speak to me. I have reached out to persons who have deeply hurt me and forgave them (in writing). T
hose who have not responded have not slighted me in the least, those conversations no longer my head with the alarming frequency it once did. I have been able to change the conversation to one of gratitude for the lessons and that light is shining into the wounds which are healing. https://www.facebook.com/humanityslifeline
Why is The Universe blessing me with such amazing positive experiences?
Why is The Universe blessing me with such financial abundance?
Why is The Universe sending me such amazing people to help The World become a more caring and beautiful planet?
Why am I Humanity's Lifeline?
Thanks for allowing me this opportunity to share my experiences.
