Learning a new skill - Cycling

Emotions can make you do crazy things....

There was one skill I wanted to learn for many years but somehow could not initiate... It was Cycling !!!

It might not appear to be a big thing for most of you, but learning to ride a cycle was in my New Year Resolution list for atleast 10 years.
I perceived cycling to be one of the most difficult skills to learn.. More than fear, it was a feeling of sheer embarrassment to learn something so elementary at this 'not so young' age. With no sense of balancing,  I just could not imagine myself riding a cycle.

Thanks to this program, I started believing in myself and the ability of my mind to learn new skills even at this age..
Hence, while drafting my NYR this time, I gave this an emotional twist. I committed myself to learn cycling so that I can ride a cycle with my kid (my younger version rides much better than me) . I visualized myself cycling with my son on the roads and the smile on his face. That did the trick!!
I am able to conquer one of my biggest fears and overcome my oldest self-made mental obstacle. And believe me what a feeling it is !!! What is holding YOU still? When was the last time YOU learnt something completely new or overcame an old fear??  I have five more lined up for this year. Fingers crossed !!
