I have Hashimotos disease. Diet is extremely important to managing symptoms. A few years back when I was first diagnosed, I had a dietitian help me with a special autoimmune elimination diet. I had to eliminate all kinds of things; dairy, soy, nuts, beans, gluten… it was hard. But I did it. I had to start eating meat again after five years of being vegan. When she stated she thought I should eliminate sugar as well, I freaked out and lost it. I thought the dietician had lost her mind and was just being too restrictive. Really, she just wasn’t offering what this program offered me… behavioral changes to get at the root cause as to why I would freak out over quitting sugar, and not all those other things.
I don’t mind hard things. I don’t mind challenges. But quitting sugar… I freaked out a few times in my head through this week-long challenge. I would have never been able to do it without the program’s guidance.
My hunger has dropped dramatically. I can taste food without needing to salt it as much, and everything tastes better.
It’s made me want to understand my relationship with food more, and want to sign up for Eric’s Immunity Challenge.
