So here I am staring at my book shelves, remembering all the impulse buying I did throughout the years and living out a fantasy of what would I do with the new found knowledge. Unfortunately, all it has done is collected dust, or added more weight to my luggage. I thought my problem all these years is that I am a hoarder, a pack rat, where I would revel in the sight of clutter ...or so my wife claims. I would blame a busy schedule, family obligations and other excuses, never have I thought it might be the speed of my reading. I do admit of buying an audio version of a book that I already own just so I could cover more ground in less time. I started the first day of my quest with Jim Kwik’s Super Reading, then the reality check of my reading speed became evident. I knew I was slow... but this slow, and I have a career as a copywriter and a consultant?? It was a shock to know that my average starting words per minute was 160 when the average range starts at 200. On day two when I started to apply what I have learned, the 160 words per minute with full comprehension has bumped up to 175. I decided to share my story now so that I could have a snapshot of my current situation. I am looking forward to know what would be the new number once I am done with my quest.
