"My reading speed on a fiction novel (with full comprehension) has gone up from 209 words to 748 words per minute"

I saw a Masterclass with Jim and Vishen about the brain and memory, and I actually ended up feeling quite upset afterwards for a few reasons:
1. I don't feel I have fulfilled my learning potential as my retainment is quite poor;
2. I have just about given up on reading, both for fun and professionally;
3. I have developed unhelpful habits like scrolling online and reading 'little bits' of information instead of picking up books. I decided to sign up for this Quest because of a mixture of curiosity and desperation.

Doing this Quest has been an amazing experience. My reading speed on a fiction novel (with full comprehension) has gone up from 209 words per minute (with full subvocalisation) to 748 words per minute. I can't believe it! And I'm now convinced that I can improve even more as long as I keep practising these new methods and techniques, learn to skim read and practise comprehension on technical reading, etc. Oh, and getting my head around juggling!
Jim is a great and passionate teacher - especially in the live Q&A calls it is so obvious that he really cares about everyone in the tribe and their individual processes and progress, and I love his honesty, his encouragement and his anecdotes.
The quest sessions are clear and concise, and easy to follow. [...]
I think this quest would be amazing for everyone who feels that there are too many books to read and not enough time, who feels frustrated by this 'reading voice' in your head and by not remembering what you've read... and many other reasons! I believe that anyone (even fast and confident readers) could improve and feel more comfortable reading, and re-discover or enhance the fun of taking in new information at (what feels like) the speed of light!
I am really pleased to have been part of this quest and to have had an opportunity to share this journey with my 17 year old daughter - she has improved so much as well (she more than tripled her reading speed on full comprehension) and what she has learned has already transformed her preparations and extra reading during her exam year; I'm sure it will continue to benefit her when she is at University next year.
I am so happy with how my reading is not just so much faster now, but how my beliefs around reading have changed... from a frustrated 'there is no point in even starting this book because I won't finish it or remember what I read' to 'Ohhh..... which book shall I read next?' This is so exciting.... Time to dust off the bookshelves!
Thank you, Jim! You have made such a difference in my reading as well as my daughter's - Can't thank you enough!
