I'd spent several months agonising over a language learning YouTube Kids channel I've been running for nearly 6 years now. In my heart of hearts I know it's a fantastic idea. Everyone who encounters it thinks it's amazing that we're finally doing something to teach kids Shona. It's an African language mostly spoken in Zimbabwe. To give you an idea, there was no mainstream Shona language content growing up. Still isn't. And this language is spoken by over 20 million people.
It seemed we had done all the right things with limited resources.
I knew I was missing something.
I'm the only person in the team with some kind of digital marketing knowledge, but it was just too much for me to bear. I had a blind spot and I knew it. But with no one else to bounce ideas off (what we're trying to do has never been done) I was desperate. Plain and simple.
Last month I had a what-the-heck moment. I've followed Mindvalley on YouTube for a decade now, from the very early days. I've always used those small windows into Vishen's world to inspire me, or for the quiet moments when I need an extra boost.
So I finally resisted my 'I'm busy' and just signed up.
Completely on a whim.
I'm a mom of 2 who works full-time AS WELL AS working on this passion project.
I really didn't think that I had the time.
I'm vowing to do them every morning first thing, and last thing at night is my centering exercise.
I got so much done on the first day. It felt like my brain was on superspeed. I just 'knew' what I had to do.
- I'm more clear
- I'm focused and moving towards my goals
- I tidied up our strategy and now have a 12 month content calendar
- I started creating content more mindfully. With better planning
- On the first day of the centering exercise I opened our YouTube analytics. The video we had just released had 888 views. More signs are popping up everywhere that I am on the right track
- Speaking to Vishen AI has helped me realise that this is not just a passion project of a few. This is an idea that could change our future generations to have a sense of belonging, and also achieve greater things when working from a place of love for all
