My Holobody Journey
My reason for enrolling in the Holobody coaching journey was to develop a higher level of physical and emotional health and strength, so that I could cope with the demands of being a working mother and provide a more positive role model for my child who has some additional needs.
The coaching fundamental were such a positive start to our journey and the session were so clearly expressed and engaging. During this phase I was able to connect with other Holobody buddies and experience a shared sense of purpose and understanding. I was fortunate in meeting virtually with a few Holobody members on a weekly basis. Over the course of the programme my confidence has developed.
My top insights from the coaching fundamentals:
• Learning how to be an active listener and receiving opportunities to practise these skills.
• Facilitating the individual in finding their own solution.
• Maintaining a clear boundary between coaching and therapy.
• Understanding my client’s beliefs, goals, barriers and successes and personality.
• Remembering to celebrate successes to reinforce the positive cycle of success.
During the baseline assessment I expanded my understanding of well-being, through learning a variety of approaches to holistically improve my health. The peaceful warrior routine was revitalising in the mornings and I can practise smaller sections of the routine as and when appropriate.
I loved creating healthier meals containing organic food and noticing how my energy level responded throughout the day.
I established 4 – 7 – 8 breathing as part of my evening routine.
Two years ago, I had a shoulder injury and was unable to turn the key of my car and the key of front door without the help of my neighbour. At the start of Holobody coaching I was injury free but lacking in strength and I had limiting beliefs regarding my future body strength.
The racing mode encouraged me to join a gym and receive support in starting an individual training programme. My confidence has grown over the weeks and I now enjoy engaging between one to two weight training sessions a week independently. This a huge shift in my journey thus far. I can feel the my increased body strength, feel the pleasure when I have engaged in the activities and celebrate my new found strength. My body feels stronger and my vision for my body’s future strength has shifted from weak to strong and peaceful. I do not think this shift would have occurred if I had not participated in the Holobody coaching journey.
The 6-phase meditation quest was enlightening, and it incorporates so many evidence-based approaches from positive psychology. I had previously been practising gratitude on a daily basis. However the 6-phase medication encouraged me to focus on developing self-compassion and
forgiveness. This practice has helped taken 'a weight off my mind' and helped me feel more at peace with myself and others.
Through my Holobody buddies I have had the opportunity to practice using the 6-phase meditation and developed confidence in my ability to teach this to others in the future. I have created a vision board for my future and the 6-phase meditation has encouraged me to go into more depth and use all 5 senses in imagining the future.
My vision for continuing the Holobody journey includes living a holistically health lifestyle from a mind and body perspective, to provide a positive role-model for my daughter.
Within the next three years I envision that I will complete the following individually assigned quests:
* First write a book for parents of children with special needs regarding supporting their child in reaching their potential, drawing on holistic well-being approaches.
* Secondly, complete the start your own coaching Business Quest.
* Thirdly, create a website from which I can provide information, videos and booklet for parents on holistic well-being for parents of children with special needs.
Alongside these three quests I will:
* Continue coaching myself and another Holobody buddy.
* Continue with 1 cardio workout and 1-2 weight-training workouts a week plus micro workouts (plank and stretching) x 3 a week.
* Continue with the morning, mid-day and evening routines, which include: Minimum: green smoothie and /or 5 glasses of water, daily body talk, plank exercise, gratitude exercise with lofty questions, 20 minutes writing, 20 minutes violin, 4-7-8 breathing at night.
Ideal: The above plus the 6-phase meditation, consuming organic foods, journaling and planning the day / week ahead in advance, 1 micro-workout.
Best: All the above plus the peaceful warrior morning routine.
* Engaging in Racing mode in January, May and September.
* Being a life-long learner in my Holobody journey, which will enable me to live a healthy life and contribute positively to the lives of my family, friends and wider community.
