In my opinion, the best self-development organisation out there is Mindvalley. It’s an education company with the mission to guide self-development worldwide. And this week I finished one of their courses – Lifebook online.
Before Lifebook, I was, like most of us, not truly conscious of every aspect of my life. My vision for the future was vague, my understanding of my aspirations limited. You never truly know just how unconscious you’ve been living until you gain that consciousness.
Now I’m certainly not saying that I’ve completely transformed or become a superhuman. I’m not saying my life will never experience hardship or confusion again. But since I started this course, I’ve felt a new tranquillity and a new confidence that seems to grow exponentially.
The way Lifebook works is it splits life into 12 different categories and gets you to reflect on your beliefs, vision, purpose and strategy for each category. For six weeks, I dedicated my Sundays to this course and it always left me energised for the week to come.
Some breakthrough moments included becoming aware that: I can shape my character; I am a spiritual person; my vision for my social life is achievable and I have a tendency to demonise wealth while I simultaneously desire it. More than this, I gained clarity on what I want for my future and that has already positively affected my last few weeks and my present. As the program’s founders (Jon and Missy Butcher) often note, oftentimes we go through life just blind, putting all our effort into working hard without having the vision of where we will end up. And unfortunately this is not effective – without an awareness of your present and your goals for the future growth, the effect is comparable to running on a treadmill; using up energy but getting nowhere.
There were a lot of memorable quotes as part of this experience but the main one I think it’s important to share is this:
We can only be in one of two states in life:
‘Static or moving’. It sounds dramatic but ‘dying or growing’.
This is why self-development is so important –it ensures that we are conscious, present and growing.
I’d recommend Lifebook and Mindvalley to everyone because there is always room for growth. If I had to be more specific, I’d say people that feel stuck, disillusioned or uncomfortable with their identity would benefit significantly because Lifebook is a nurturing experience that is designed with compassion and inspiration in mind.
If you’ve made it this far into my post, thank you for your valuable time.
If you’d like to know any more details do message me or –even better- let’s meet for coffee.
