The exercise in the 'Be Extraordinary' course and in Vishen's book asking me to identify the experiences I want to savour, the growth I would need to develop, and the contributions I could make in future was the real wake-up call, particularly when I realised I actually had no vision for my future, just lots of past experiences (good, great, difficult, challenging, inspiring and fabulous - tick, tick and more ticks!). But how on earth could I not have a vision for my future and for what else I could contribute to the world? This was a really sobering moment for me and not an easy question to answer, as it turns out, nor one that could be answered the same day.
So, when Vishen talked about the importance of desire and the importance of understanding where judgement prevails on the last day of the 7-day challenge, I knew I was faced with another opportunity to do the next level 'deep dive' and to expand my own vision for what the next steps of my life will entail. Not what other people or my family expect; instead, more opportunities for me to be my most authentic and creative self. What fun!
What the 'Be Extraordinary' course, Vishen's book as well as the 7-day challenge highlighted to me was the strength of having a passionate mentor to walk alongside me (even if he had no idea that I was there!) as I was presented with principles I had not ever been exposed to before in my life. Along the way, Vishen's passion continues to enliven mine as well.
What I could see with the information and guidance that Vishen shares in all of these processes is that anyone, regardless of age or stage of life, can find the deeper truth and courage to live a truly authentic life: on our terms, not on our ancestors' terms. This is the strength of what these courses and challenges help us to draw upon. After all, our world needs more this now, not less, and we are just the people to do this.
