On 1 January 2024, I made a commitment to absolutely prioritise self-care and self focus for Q1 - I made a plan to create healthy habits to get back on track in life - from digital detox, to mindfulness, to drinking water. Then, the start-up job I had been headhunted for just over half a year started to feel wrong, I got frustrated and knew it was going to come to and end.
Then I repeatedly saw a Be Extraordinary advert (not serendipity, but smart Ads, I guess!) and after initial reluctance, it felt right and I did the course. And as I had already done some prep work, the magic did happen very quickly, just as Vishen said.
1. Two days after the course started, my job got terminated, and I got two months full pay without having to work. I felt blessed, as now at last I had two months to dedicate it to finding ut how to make the most impact in my sector, moving away from sales jobs.
2. I made a plan to find a new job which included some applications, networking, but also a very strong focus on inner transformation. Vishen, being a man and a succesful entrepreneur, gave me the confidence to talk about values, empathy, and my own needs and wants in introductory interviews with potential employers. For every interview or networking call, I prepared a speech, I focused on really believing in myself, feeling the energy of my vision. And I was incredibly convincing. My CV by itself is not really convincing - no experience with big corporates or top-tier universities. But I got really good at 100% being myself and starting interviews with expressing my vision and why I wanted to work for the company. I was looking for my match and people loved it.
3. I wrote my 3MIQ and had them beside me in all interviews. Through my network, I found out about a small Investment firm hiring for their new subsidiary focusing on development of nature-based solutions. For two years, I had been an inspiring investors to fund forest conservation and restoration projects - as a public speaker, in webinars, in technical consultancy. I would be an advocate for integrity but I wanted to actually develop the projects, to ensure integrity rather than only promote it.
4. Furthermore, this job was focusing ensuring and managing social impacts, whereas I had been focusing on biodiversity impact in my previous jobs. Now, during some of the meditation exercises in the programme, I got some important key words, one was "focus more on social". So I told the potential employers that my intention was to focus more on the social side, in alignment with my personality and soft skills.
5. In my 3MIQs, I had added a crazy experience later on, using a different pencil. It said "have a job that allows me to go out to field in vehicles such as helicopters". Guess what - in the first interview, at the end, the managing director, says with shining eyes: "and you get to go in helicopters and it's awesome". The job also ticked about 4 or 5 of my MIQs, some of them being the ones that are "hard to achieve". It blew my mind.
6. Just as I was getting closer to finalising the recruitment process (note that they just liked me and didn't interview anyone else and never asked about my skills), out of the blue, someone called me and said they'd offer me an amazing job. No recruitment, appointment. It was just amazing, basically a response to all my intellectual needs, and a great progress from my previous jobs. Pay? Whatever I wanted, but about double my previous salary". This was because I had contributed to their workstream pro bono the year before and they just liked my work and personality.
7. I was put in a situation where I had to decide between two absolutely awesome jobs that felt like they had manifested as a result of my own, inner, work. I felt so proud, magical, and empowered. Now, the decision was hard, but I went for the first job. The reason was that, during my meditations, I had realised that what I wanted was to settle, consolidate, ground myself. This is what the first job offered. And I stuck to my decision, despite being heavily courted by the other company. I stuck to it because I had writtend down my intentions and commitments.
8. All of this happened in exactly the right timeline: my 2 months of paid holidays ended on June 30th. I wrote down that I wanted to have a job agreed by t he 20th of June and it happened by the 19th of June.
1. I feel like I can create anything! Now, I really need to focus on actually making the job happen, live up to what I created. My employer put incredible trust in my as a person, so I want to be that person.
2. Over the last months, I had intense moments of serendipity, where people approached me on LinkedIn or in person (eg after speeches I gave on random topics) and said they just felt they wanted to connect with me. All of them felt so aligned with me that it was scary.
3. I feel the need to talk to others about it, inspire them. I'm already helping a few of my friends to find hope that this is possible.
4. I'd like to apply the same method to other aspects in my life. I really, really want to find a life partner at last. This is something that has made me very unhappy all my life. I'm just finishing the course "Calling in the one" and have learned a lot. I hope in due time, I'll attract my partner, too. At least now, I know it can be possible.
