"Now I'm concentrating on being the best mother I can as my kids have been through a lot"

Before this program, I have had a few setbacks with my health. I bought a franchise business with Travel Counsellors and was really excited to be returning to travel as this has always been a passion of mine.

Six months in I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I felt fortunate that it was found and that there was treatment for it so I started the chemotherapy in April 2017. I was lucky as the hospital was only a few miles away so I could take my children into school then head up there. The sessions fitted in perfectly with the school timetable and I felt immense gratitude to the NHS. The Nurses were so kind and helpful. I enjoyed sitting and being able to read my book, as a mother of 3 this felt very fortunate. My partner wanted to come but I felt it was more important that he continued his work. The chemotherapy went on until September, in May I lost all my hair - I had the chance to use a cold cap but I felt the extra time it took plus the fact that I don't like cold were reasons to not to do it. It wasn't guaranteed that it would stop. I didn't hugely mind my hair falling out which was strange as I had always thought of it as one of my better features, what I found difficult was my eyelashes, having no eyelashes. I realized how important they are for keeping things out of your eyes. Also in May I went with my eldest son to Maascricht as his football team played in a tournament there. I organised the travel for the team and parents. It was a great few days and they came second. In November I had surgery, masetomy and re construction. It all went well but by January it was clear that my body was rejecting the reconstruction so I had it removed.
The relief of it was incredible. I started getting back to health with walking dogs for my friend by March I was working full time for her and it was really enjoyable - I loved the dogs and my dog enjoyed all the walks too. my travel business was not going well which was so disappointing also I felt that my partner hadn't really supported me a lot during all my treatment and we decided to split up. The children took it all in their stride. Things didn't change straight away as he couldn't move out due to funds. We put our flat on the market and by Christmas had an offer. I decided the children and I were going to move down to Hampshire so I was closer to my Mother and sister. My mother said we could live in her house that she rented out. The children were ok with it. In January 2019 I had a stroke, fortunately , my friend and boss noticed the signs and took me straight to A&E. They worked out that it was probably sue to the medicine I was taking but I was very fortunate that my friend took me to hospital when she did. I recovered well and at the end of February we moved down to Hampshire. The children all settled in well to their schools and my business was picking up, though not as well as I'd have liked. We had a lovely holiday in Portugal.
My health was back to normal and I was trying to get fit. I was enjoying working on my business but wasn't making any money from it so my savings rapidly reduced. I agreed to look after another person's business which I'd hoped would help my own but then COVID hit the UK and travel was put on hold. I looked after her business reorganising, cancelling holidays until June then decided to leave as i couldn't afford to continue. I was then approached by the owner of Inclu travel, who asked if I wanted to join them which I did as he wants to bring travel to everyone and we were going to be working with case managers and anyone else you needs are services. I am so pleased to be part of this company as it's ethios is so good. When Travel is back properly it's going to be amazing! So now I'm concentrating on being the best mother I can as my kids have been through a lot. I'd like to improve myself and become financially sound.
