So I’m genuinely embarking on a new phase of peak performance. Exciting times and for me, health wise it’s been a very long time coming!
As you may know from viewing past posts of mine in this tribe I took part on the first round of the Habit of Ferocity and there were some pretty key things that I learnt. I finally found lost bits of information slotting into place and I’m sure you’ll find that too, no matter what point of understanding you are at. Given that you are curious about this at all means you have the motivation and drive to do something about it! This was true for me but I just didn’t know how to get there! This course has put the jigsaw pieces in place for me now.
By chance my life had already lead me to work out one of my Massively Transformative Purposes a year ago in the shape of a book about how cultural events using shared imagination, such as festivals and traditions, connect us socially and heighten identity and happiness. I’m writing about the Himalayan region.
However, I still got more out the stacking of curiosities and passions, guided by Steven. I actually learnt that I had a latent purpose which I’ve now been able to set free too!
As a result of research on my book I was already in the process of reading Steven’s book ‘Stealing Fire’ so was extremely excited to find this course. As I work alone at home and, despite being organized and having lots of personal habits/practices in place I had not come to the organized state of applying them in the most effective way. I was slightly wandering around in the dark in this respect.
So this has probably been my biggest take away from the course. The ability to understand WHY it’s important to work using these methods and structure, and HOW to practically implement them. I am hugely grateful for this as I think it had always been my missing link.
As a result this course has also given me the courage to truly realize the value of the pursuit of my purposes both in personal ways and actively getting my MTP’s out into the world.
While my daily life has changed and become more structured now I also feel more purpose and satisfaction, direction and achievement. Truly. I have always worked in design in theatre and film and always felt (as a creative person) really resistant and restricted by routine however, with the wonderfully supportive help of my accountability partner (I seriously could not have been luckier in how similar we were and different in the ways we both needed help!) I am quickly learning how this structure works to benefit me. That has also changed how I feel about my ability to achieve my goals. In fact it has been the KEY to giving me a structured direction with personal balance (I have 6 year old twins as a single mum!) that is aiding my life as a whole.
This is the first time I’ve had an accountability partner on a course this element was pivotal to the successes I got from it. We are currently staying in touch weekly to keep each other accountable and help one another with our progress.
