Before this course, I was confident speaking on stage about business topics, and could easily explain insights, speak clearly and even bring humour in. But I’d never really seen emotional expression as something that was available to me in my own storytelling. Perhaps I didn’t want to wake up to how much impact it could have, or how essential it is when you want a message to truly inspire. Eric’s course opened that up. It forced me to consider I could be a person who finds the courage to get close to that emotional line with intention.
The breakthrough for me was sharing a personal story I had never spoken aloud before, which I practiced once before a breakout session. The move from barely being able to speak it to using the tools we learnt and to deliver it to our group with emotion and impact without losing control of the moment, shifted my sense of what’s possible for me. I’m leaving with a deeper confidence not just in public speaking and body language, but in expressing myself in everyday personal and professional conversations.
