Back in the mid-90’s, in my hometown Gibraltar, I learnt of the Silva Method. I bought as many books as I could lay my hands on, ingesting, digesting and adopting many of Silva techniques. It may have been in Malaga or MAdrid, Spain, where I took courses on the Silva Method.
As the techniques became as much of my life as batting eyelids, I traveled to Laredo to study, with Jose Silva at the helm, the Silva Lecturer Development Seminar. This was in the summer of 1996.
The weeks spent with Jose Silva are beyond words: ‘enriching and motivating’ come to mind. I am sure there are better superlatives! However, I never launched myself as a Silva Method lecturer but diligently applied many of the techniques in my professional and personal life.
Professionally, I practise law. But my activities shoot off in divergent directions. I am amply and deftly involved in many disciplines. I have applied Silva techniques to my work as a Barrister. But not only. I am a full member of the UK Magic Circle; published poet, lyricist. I hold the Advanced Diploma in Graphology and certificate in Logotherapy. I am a frequent lecturer on motivational matters and a contributor on Gibraltar Radio and Television; often performing as a Magician/Mentalist and Ventriloquist/story-teller.
When I’m asked how I am able to juggle so many divergent balls in the air my reply is well-known: thanks to the Silva Method. No doubts! I spend time dipping into Alpha when crafting my diary commitments, or preparing for shows or media contributions, or when writing and studying.
I am thrilled to be taking this course which will act as a refresher and an emotive bridge to Laredo and the Silva family, 1996. Where has time gone?
