"The Mindvalley Certified Hypnotherapist program serendipitously reached out a hand to me at the right moment"
I completed a hypnotherapy course and was certified as a hypnotherapist in 2015. I had intended to use hypnosis to help patients at my dentist’s office with issues of treatment compliance and was successful at variable degrees. I had an issue though with self-confidence, as I thought I needed to demonstrate a higher level of persuasive eloquence to be convincing as a hypnotist. Confronted by this expectation made stepping into my flow practicing hypnotherapy challenging for me. I searched the literature on hypnotherapy for guidance and I found good literature in abundance. Meeting the requirements of my primary vocation as a dentist general practitioner in my own office was consuming enough and I felt at loss facing the amount of focus and determination I deemed necessary to evolve as a professional hypnotherapist. And no doubt, I desired to practice hypnotherapy professionally. The fascination for hypnotherapy definitely went beyond the commodity of helping dental patients. I was intrigued by how the individual designs his own human condition and I was driven by the curiosity of what creative processes hypnotherapy utilizes to support people in recognizing and accessing their own capacities for change and self-realization. The Mindvalley Certified Hypnotherapist program serendipitously reached out a hand to me at the right moment. Paul McKenna and his team more than kept their promise when in their curriculum they cover the wide scope of the methodology of hypnotherapy while emphasizing the importance of going beyond rigid script orientation to being resilient in recognizing and answering the client’s changing demands during a hypnotherapy session. They teach the building blocks of hypnotherapy from establishing rapport, pre-framing and ecology check, inductions, deepeners, anchoring, goal setting and timelines, special hypnotherapy applications, and deep trance phenomena all the way to conducting a hypnotherapy session. Paul McKenna also offers an effective non-hypnotherapeutic process: “havening” (Dr. Ronald Ruden) to manage overwhelming emotional states. The program especially features enhanced accelerated learning, NLP, and language patterns. Its notable highlight is Paul McKenna’s choice of case-proven hypnotherapy techniques that may be combined allowing the hypnotherapist to navigate successfully course-changing treatment requirements commonly encountered in a hypnotherapy session. We were instructed in video modules, we were mentored in Q&A sessions, and trained and held accountable in “Labs” by patient and compassionate highly accomplished hypnotherapists. Time and again we were told by our mentors: “Wherever you want to guide your client, you’ve got to be there first”. I hold state, grateful for the four-month experience as I recognize that becoming a great hypnotherapist is an attitude towards a person's ever-evolving process.
