My primary goal in joining Manifesting Mastery was to learn how to undertake a challenge that will begin a new chapter in life for my husband and I. It is time for us to move from our beloved home of 34 years and into a smaller property with no stairs for my husband's health. My biggest challenge would be to downsize and let go of possessions that do not serve us in our future. However, our family life, hobbies, community activities do not disappear just because I have a lot of work before me!
As an actor, I enjoy performing onstage. Although I didn't start acting until my late 40's, it has been a dream come true for me and I've been fortunate enough to play some fantastic and interesting roles in Steel Magnolias, Blithe Spirit, Clue, Reservoir Dogs and many others.
For the 25/26 season, a new re-working of HG Wells, "Time Machine" was going to be produced onstage at a local theater. This time the story revolves around a woman who is a grandmother. After reading the script, I knew I wanted to audition for this new play, but would it interrupt my downsizing goals to eventually find a new home for my husband and I?

After reading the script, I knew I wanted to audition for this new play, but would it interrupt my downsizing goals to eventually find a new home for my husband and I?
At this point, I looked to our Universe, our Creator, my spirit guides and asked - "Would all the time spent towards this production (if I am cast) interfere with my moving process? If I am able to handle two large important tasks during this period of my life and not feel overwhelmed, then I am happy and willing to accept this lead role if I'm found to be right for this play. I am grateful for all that is in my life right at this moment and accept the outcome". I surrendered the outcome.
Then I began the work. Memorization of a monologue is required for the audition and I worked on it daily for two weeks. I was meeting a brand new director from out of town who had never seen me or my work before. I carefully planned my appearance for my audition.
I was successful. I was notified 2 days later I was invited to callbacks to read with other actors auditioning for the play.
Again, I did the work. I read the script again to re-familiarize myself with my character's relationship with others. I attended callbacks, doing the very best I could. Callbacks are always very fun and exciting for me, but that evening I left in a blur, not entirely certain I had shown what was needed. Was I too much, too bold, too colorful? But the message that came to me was that I could only be the person that I authentically am, and hope that rings true for the director.

I had forgotten to ask when or how we would be notified if we were cast or not. So again, I reminded the universe that having done the best I could that I would accept the outcome, as I am already entirely happy with my life.

I was surprised and exhilarated. My answer from the Creator and guides had come so swiftly and succinctly! And now, not only am I thrilled to be cast as the lead in a new play, I am grateful that at 69 years of age, I am still considered vital enough to handle the responsibility. Not only that, but the Universe has confidence in me that I can handle memorization of the entire play, being in rehearsals and performances, AND handle the downsizing task before me as we enter the process of movig into a smaller, beautiful space that will reveal itself when I'm ready. I feel that confidence and I believe it!
