Before Lifebook, I had invested in many a personal growth program but I always found that the results would stick for a few weeks (if I even finished the course) and then life would return back to normal. No permanent change in my habits or in my direction. Lifebook has completely shifted this pattern for me by being the most holistic course I have come across and providing built in accountability! Some programs focus only on what you want, some on your "big why", others on great strategies and actions to take, and others on dismantling or installing new beliefs. Lifebook addresses all of these and things WILL inevitably shift in your life if you put the work in.
That right there is also a refreshing point - Jon and Missy are very clear that this isn't a magic pill and you can't just sit back and dream...you have to do your part in the process, a point often glossed over in much of the self-help out there! The thing is, once you've completed your Lifebook you will be turbo-charged to go out and take the actions, install the habits, and do the work to build the life you have always imagined for yourself! Jon and Missy (and Alex!) really have refined the process and make it super easy to follow along, and before you know it you will have the Book of You just waiting to become a reality. Your North Star you can steer towards each day with a confidence that you will get there!
An added bonus is I now have a clearly defined system for categorizing and implementing all the other strategies and tips from past courses that were aimlessly floating around in the back of my mind without the drive to implement.
A tip for those just starting?
Don't focus on perfect, just get your first draft done! Once that mountain has been climbed you will have something tangible to go back to, refine, personalize, and really make resonate with you! This is the start of a new lifestyle; it is an ongoing, unfolding process.
A struggle I faced?
This process does bring up many unhelpful beliefs, habits, fears, and doubts. I noticed resistance arising around my life vision but once you shine consciousness on something consistently, things start to come to light! I realized that much of the resistance was the result of letting go of the familiar in order to head in a new direction...the "familiar" was feelings of lack and constant striving, almost as if those things defined me. The familiar is comfortable, but we all know that growth doesn't happen in our comfort zones! It can be scary to choose one path to go all in on and let the other ones fall by the wayside...but what would be worse is to be on your death bed, looking back, and realizing all you could have done, all your unrealized potential...and now it was too late to do anything about it. Be willing to let go of the comfort you know to have a one-of-a-kind, wonder-filled, adventure of a life!
