My daughter is 8 years old and I am a single mom at 57.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be on this quest, I am grateful beyond measure for my daughter, who I desired greatly and was possible through an egg donor, has been my greatest teacher for sure! Before she came along I was completely unconsciously submerged in enabling addiction and codependency without even realizing it. I stepped out of all those unhealthy relationships because she was in my life and without her I may have stayed, blind and who knows how long it would have taken to become conscious if at all? And since, as Dr. Shefali has said, it has been a very lonely road as I have had to detach from my mother and my ex and his mother and basically raise her alone. I am definitely the empath type. As Dr. Shefali said in yesterday's call, if you have the adults in your life who try to control you and then your child is doing the same, it's a matter of not trying to please others anymore. So this was a very good lesson. I am also reaching out for ongoing community if anyone is interested in chatting directly. Thank you!
