"There are a few times in our lives, when everything is changing, and everything is possible"

There are a few times in our lives, when everything is changing, and everything is possible. The first time, I made this experience was in 1997. At that time, I had a job that I did not enjoy. I was stuck in a 7-year long relationship that was not going anywhere. From whatever angle looking at my life back then, it was not inspiring. Still, I was uncertain what to do about it. I had accepted the BRules of working in a decent job and stick to a relationship, because this would be what is expected of me. However, I came across this program from CDG, which was composed of a work & study program in NY, USA. I had always a fascination for the USA, and the program of young people engaging in learning & growing was very inspiring. Thus, I was able to arrange with my employer to take a break for the duration of this program, with the intention to return to my work & life afterwards again. Well, once I started the program, the magic unveiled. The vibe of NY, inspiring teachers and people let to my personal moment of awakening. I shifted my mind from fear driven to thinking in terms of opportunities. I understood that my current life was not fulfilling. I clearly saw what was not working in my life: my job and my relationship. In these 9 months in NY, I took more decisions than in my previous combined 27 years. I called my employer and announced that I would not return to work; even before I had an idea about what I would do next. I called my longtime girlfriend and told her that our relationship is at a dead end; surprisingly (or not) she agreed. Shortly afterwards I met my twin-soul in NY (and we would marry within the next six months). I decided that I wanted to go back to a university in England and asking my parent for their support (something I was too embarrassed to ask for before). All those decisions for change felt very liberating and one step seemingly followed into another step. My carrying parents actually were so surprised by all this change that they decided to come over to NY for a week to check out the situation (luckily they were reassured then that I was not on drugs :-). Well, this is my story of awakening, and even though, this is more then 20 years ago, the emotions are still very present.
