It has been two short years since I first heard of Deborah King. It was one long, miserable year before that when I retired from full-time employment. I was depressed and lonely and my activities were restricted by my third and fourth foot surgeries. It was not good news when I learned the first two surgeries had failed miserably, making things much worse than before. I was starting to “lose it” in a number of ways.
My life changed when I attended Deborah’s workshop, livestreamed. I had never seen an energy healer doing the things she was doing. I did not know there was such a thing as an initiation. Some of the shamanic clearing was more familiar, but I had only read about it. I was mesmerized by her work.
From that day forward, I have been learning from Deborah King. I began with a workshop covering her book, Entangled in Darkness, Seeking the Light. I went on to read Truth Heals and Be Your Own Shaman. Then I signed up for Level One of her classes.
With the classes came one of the best things to ever happen to me. I joined the Facebook group only for Deborah’s students. I found so many new friends that my head was spinning with happiness. I watched another full weekend workshop that Deborah taught via livestream. I just couldn’t get enough of what she was teaching. And I listened every week to her radio show.
Another wonderful benefit was taking Deborah’s training in meditation. Daily meditation has truly changed me from the inside out. I used to meditate, had done so for about 40 years on and off, but daily practice was the key. I attribute to meditation all the improvements in my health, mental ability, and awareness that have come to me since. And there are plenty of reminders. Nobody in the Deborah King student group can say he or she forgot to meditate. The meditation, combined with learning some essentials of Ayurveda from Deborah and from a class with one of her senior students, Dian Shirley, turned me into a great cook. I have received more compliments from my family in the past six months than in all my previous years of food preparation combined.
I have been attending workshops in person for a year now. I have been to Miraval near Tucson, to Los Angeles, Chicago, and Hawaii. The travel has presented plenty of challenges for a 70-year-old woman, but none that I have not overcome. I truly love being with the other students. Never before have I found so much in common with so many.
Through the Deborah King student Facebook group we support each other. We teach each other (there are so many spiritual gifts to share). And, we send energy to and prayers for friends and family as well as each other. The students ring the planet. We even do remote energy sessions for one another, trading partners every two weeks. Who would have guessed that one can help another heal from mid-America to as far away as New Zealand? It works, it really does. Even my son’s skeptical friend said she felt the energy from the remote session. Intentionality is what makes it work.
And, you may ask, are my feet getting me where I want to go? Yes, thanks to a fine podiatrist and orthotic shoe insoles. I can walk those long airport terminals, if I have to.
