"It was so eye opening for me to see someone who has such an expansive, spacious, big energy around money like Ken."

This class has shifted my view about money in many ways. First of all, I was so in awe with Ken’s energy around money. There is an energy of peace, ease, relaxation, generosity that he has around money. He gives so freely, generously, and it feels like such a natural thing for him to do, it just spills out of his being. He is not even trying, he is just being. Being in his energy every week for 7 weeks in a row is very impactful. Most of my life, I have had a tight and small feeling around money, penny pinching, thinking a lot before spending on something, doubting or regretting my purchases. It was so eye opening for me to see someone who has such an expansive, spacious, big energy around money like Ken. I was touched to hear Ken recount stories of how generously he gave: he gave away 1 million copies of his book and as such, 8 million copies were sold, he gave his friend $1,000 in an envelope and sent her flowers when she was sick, and then he gave us as many copies of his book Happy Money as we want even covering the postage. After those first few weeks in the class, I started to feel more relaxed and at ease around money. I had the habit of haggling and bargaining a lot when going out, shopping, taking trips, so traveling was often stressful for me, as I would have to bargain with a lot of people. It was always very unpleasant. After the first few weeks, I notice myself not being so concerned about bargaining too much. I did say to a taxi driver who was taking us on a trip, “We can talk about money later, just give me the price, no stress, no worries.” I had a more relaxing experience on my trip. The different money types that Ken taught has helped me see why my partner and I had quite a few conflicts around money. He’s more of a spender and I’m more of a saver. He was going through some financial challenges and I was criticizing his spending habits, saying that he was throwing money out of the window through careless spending. After this lesson on 8 money types, I started reflecting on the relationship we had with money. I said to my partner, “I realize that I do not need you to be richer, wealthier, making more money. It’s most important to me that we can trust that we can go through any financial situations together with love, kindness, and understanding for each other. If we make a lot of money, great. If we don’t, it’s okay as well, I want us to be able to trust that we can still have a joyful, loving experience with each other, regardless of how much money we have in the bank.” My partner was very touched to hear about that. We still have arguments about money, but we are now able to see that we both want the same thing but are coming from different angles. I am quicker to see when I am holding on to my lack perspective, and sometimes I apologize to him for being so tight. I have started to thank money not only when going in but also going out. Being a saver, in the past, I would feel grudge when parting with money. Now something has shifted in me in seeing the value that money provides for the experiences and things I get to have: a beautiful dress, lovely time with family and friends, a holiday, a delicious meal…
The extraordinary gift that money is bringing to my life, every single time I spend it, only now do I start to fully appreciate. I am saying Arigato to money more often, even though I still forget sometimes. I am inspired to track my expenses more thoroughly, so that at the end of the month, I can look back and take in all the wonderful things money has brought into my life. To increase the flow of money, I donated to the Wildlife Rescue Organization to help save all the wildlife in danger in the Australian bushfire, as well as donated to help a friend whose sickness had taken her out of work so she had no income. I have received a lot of money gifts in return! As it is Lunar New Year and my family is Vietnamese, my mom and aunt gave me lucky money, and my parents treated me to a lot of delicious meals. All flowing with abundance! The most profound experience was when I did the exercise to heal the ancestral money wounds, and Ken walked us through a meditation to receive the gifts from our parents. I was sobbing in tears because I had not expected it to be so profound. Both my mom and dad came to me in the purest, most loving and divine essence. My mom shared with me the gift of peace, joy, contentment, so much so that I can radiate it out to others and bless them with my presence. My dad gave me the gift of knowledge and wisdom, stability and resilience in times of uncertainty. I was so surprised because I had never viewed my parents in this way before, and to see them as Divine Beings with these gifts that they actually gave to me at the time of birth was so profound. I couldn’t stop crying. I also had a knowing that they are always with me on the spiritual realm. In the meditation, I was in the middle, and my mom and dad enveloped me in the middle, she said, “You are so loved,” and he said, “You are so safe.” It was such a timeless gift, the spiritual gift from their souls to mine that was given to me at the time of birth and will be with me for the rest of my life, regardless of their physical presence in my life. I had always had a good relationship with my parents, but after this exercise, something was unlocked and activated further. I started to enjoy being around my parents so much. They exude and radiate blessing energy to me. Simply being in their presence gave me joy. There is something so grounding, stable, steady, and loving about them, that even when my partner and I had a fight with each other, if we went to see my parents and have a meal with them, their energy totally diffused our conflict between each other. I can feel the energetic gift and blessing radiating from them to me. It has been the most enjoyable time I’ve had with my parents! It is so profound that it’s brought tears to my eyes so many times. Also connecting with my ancestors in the meditation that Ken walked us through was very profound as well. I had never connected with my ancestors before. In that meditation, I saw them all giving me a huge push to help launch me into space, a massive catapult for my ‘take-off’ into the life I always wanted to create. There was so much love, support, strength, courage. I never felt alone again, I felt as if they’d melted into me. After this experience, I am also feeling so much more connected to my late grandparents and even the grandparents I never met. By week 6, when Ken asked us to answer the question, “When I think about money, I feel…” my answer was: “grateful, appreciative, blessed, awe, lucky” which is a massive shift from the beginning of the course. I am going to continue living the experience of happy money in my life through: thanking money coming in and going out, tracking my expenses so that I can appreciate the different ways money is providing for me, understanding where my partner is coming from and speaking from a place of love and understanding when we have money conflicts, expanding my money container by taking on actions of someone I admire who has a bigger container, allowing money to flow more freely through giving and receiving. I am so excited to be receiving the hard copy of Happy Money soon in the mail! I will have 4 copies in total (I bought one myself before, which has taken 1 month to arrive) and am so excited to share the book with my partner, friends and my family members. I have been speaking about Ken to my partner and he’s very impacted by the way Ken is living his life. I feel the greatest way I can spread the concept of Happy Money is through the way I live and be around money – more generous, spacious, expansive, appreciative of what money has provided for me, and grateful for the flow. I used to think that I need to be a good steward of money, to be very conscious, aware and discerning of where / how I spend my money, to put it to good use and only on things that are aligned with my values and priorities. It is a helpful way, but it can be a bit stressful at times where I felt regret that I didn’t do my best. With the concept of Happy Money, my view is expanded, so I do not need to be too strict. As long as I spend the money with good, happy, positive, appreciative energy, it is happy money, and it is contributing to the flow of happy money in my life. The most important thing to remember is not what I spend on, but how I spend it, and how I feel about spending it. In a bigger perspective, the most important thing is not what I do, but how I do it, and how I feel about doing it, such as my work. This way of living will bring so much ease and peace to my relationship with my partner and family members. My energy has the greatest impact on those around me… they will pick up on my energy and respond to it. Just as how Ken has impacted me the most with his energy and how he is around money. Thank you so much Ken for having shifted my life in such a profound way!
