I ACCIDENTALLY asked for 10K instead of 2K and it turned out to be the best enrollment conversation EVER (client said NOT NOW)!
I am still so excited, even though it happened yesterday evening.
A little background: I finished CLC this year and I’ve been trying to discover who to coach and how to coach since then. I only have one paying client (3 months of life coaching, €600) and recently I discovered that I would love to do only intensives with high-performers.
Yesterday I was about to have a client come for an initial coaching session of 2 hours (after I serve powerfully for about 60 or 90 minutes, I make the offer). This client was a student, and when I booked 2 hours (for a video call) the first time, he didn’t show up because he forgot, and we rescheduled.
I made up my mind to serve him powerfully. And I realised that I was afraid to make the offer somehow. I was searching for reasons to not make an offer, like “he’s a student, he does not have money” or “he likes other things, I probably don’t want to work with him”. Then I caught myself and I wrote on the paper “PRIVATE RETREAT, 10 000 RON”, meaning the intensive session (2 nights at a beautiful location, and coaching the whole day in between), and the price in Romanian money, approximately €2000. And this was my commitment to make the offer, whatever happens.
He was late 15 minutes, had internet issue, and I could feel that I am getting frustrated, but I caught myself, because I wanted to show up powerfully. And I did.
I coached him like no other, listened to him, helped him make the discoveries that he needed. Turns out he was into investing and he was trying to buy an apartament, because he had lots of money, and was having some emotional issues in that area, with which I helped him. And after the coaching was done, meaning he had the insight that he needed and I allowed him the space to process it, I made the offer.
BUT I said 10 000 € instead of RON by accident! Basically 5 times as much money. And I decided to roll with it. To play full out. And it was the best enrollment conversation I’ve ever had.
I handled objections with an energy that I did not know I had in me, I told him 2 or 3 stories and felt like a professional storyteller, one of which I have never told anyone. I could see in his face and see in his voice that his trust in me was rapidly raising.
At the end, he told me that it’s not the right time for him now, and asked if I had another package or way to work with me. And I explained that I have a monthly coaching package, but I’m not going to propose it to him because it was not what he needed (and I truly felt that I want to do my intensive with him to take him to the next level).
And this surprised him tremendously. He said he expected me to offer a less expensive package in order to get his money, and he truly sees that I am here to help, and that I can. He told me he even sees me as too high level right now, meaning he would like to work on his personal growth in some other ways before he works with me, which made me feel like I’m truly worth those 10K€.
And we ended the call with high energy, both wanting to keep in touch for when it’s the right time for him to invest in himself.
You might say that I got no money, so why am I celebrating? Well, I’m celebrating myself, being able to show up 100%, not being needy, gaining trust, speaking confidently, communicating effectively, creating value, being a loving human being, receiving a not now gracefully, and experiencing feeling like a 10K coach!
I want to thank the people who contributed to me showing up 100% for this amazing coaching experience: this awesome community of coaches (yes, including you!), Ajit, Toma, Fran, Sid, Johanna, Rich Litvin and literally anyone that gave me the right energy!
Have an amazing day and life!
