Before taking this quest, I had a general sense of what I wanted to do, as I had been preparing for this moment, but had never put pen to paper. Through the quest, I not only validated my values and sense of purpose but also gained a clear roadmap—a visual guide to how I could live the rest of my days to the fullest.
Key Insights and Takeaways
1. Completed the Quest!
o I completed the exercise in three days—a huge milestone for me, as I often start activities with the best intentions but don’t always follow through.
2. Common Themes
o Personal Growth: Prioritizing inner peace, confidence, learning, and intentional living through spirituality, education, cultural exploration, and giving back.
o Legacy and Impact: Inspiring others through storytelling, mentoring, and advocacy while leaving a meaningful legacy for my son.
o Connection and Contribution: Building relationships, supporting causes, and fostering community growth by staying engaged, taking nonprofit and fundraising courses, doing something larger than myself and storytelling through writing.
3. Biggest Insights and "Aha" Moments
o Neil Donald Walsch’s quote (paraphrased): "Your life is not about you—it’s about everyone you touch," and Vishen’s insight: "It’s not the job title; it’s the love of teaching,” truly moved me.
o I also loved the idea of using this as a team building/organizational activity.
o The importance of living boldly, with intention and clarity—for myself—so I can be fully present for loved ones and give back to causes close to my heart, such as education, mental health, suicide prevention, and creating a better world for future generations.
o Finding peace and freedom through nature, simplicity, cultural exploration, and community involvement.
o Transforming personal pain into purpose by advocating for mental health, suicide prevention, and education, and by sharing my story.
This quest has been very helpful, giving me the clarity, tools, and motivation to align my actions with my core values and purpose. I would highly recommend this exercise to anyone looking for clarity. I would even go so far as to recommend this should be part of k-12 school curriculum (modified and adapted to age levels of course). Thanks! PS. I’m a fan!
