Before I say what I gained from the program, I would like to clarify that coaching/mentoring was not my prime focused activity. I am a full-time Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. I have a passion for HVAC, so I mentor young engineers in pursuing a career in HVAC. I mentor not for my bread and butter but for the protein for my heart and brain.
Mentoring gives me the pleasure of giving and in-process helps me enhance my knowledge. So, I was mentoring without understanding my mentees. But, the 10th and 11th day was an eye-opener for me. I learned the 2 most important skills of coaching and that is Mastering Human Behaviour and How people learn.
The learning completely changed my approach. Now, I am able to see it from my mentee's eyes. My method of coaching has become more easily consumable. I can see that in my mentees. The coaching has now become more fun and has my complete attention. Now I am planning to grow my coaching as a business. The impact of the 21 days is immence.
