Spending five months training with Eric Edmeades and diving deep into the art of inspiring people has been one of the best investments I’ve made, both professionally and personally.
I’m a professor of economics and no stranger to speaking in front of large academic audiences. But after publishing my book on how to turn the brain from an adversary into an ally — to move away from stress, overwhelm, and self-doubt — I realised that I didn’t just want to share knowledge. I wanted to move people.
Eric’s incredible ability to tell compelling stories drew me in, so I joined his Mastery program. And it delivered far more than I ever expected.
Eric is not only a phenomenal speaker, but he is also an extraordinary teacher. He showed me how to craft a talk people want to listen to, how to build emotional resonance, and how to speak in a way that feels natural and authentically me.
A few lessons stood out for me:
• A great talk is never about you; it’s always about them. What your audience needs, what they’re longing to hear, what will truly serve them.
• Everyone can be a powerful storyteller. When you shift from sharing facts to sharing stories, your talk becomes an experience.
• You don’t need a script. Once I let go of writing everything out word-for-word, my talks became more alive, more spontaneous, and far more impactful.
After completing the Mastery (and Eric’s Speaking Academy) I feel like a different person on stage. I can walk out, centre myself, and share my stories and insights with confidence. It feels like me, fully expressed. And the audience feels that too.
The most beautiful compliment I’ve received after applying Eric’s lessons was this:
“Even though there were 100 people in the room, it felt like you were speaking directly to me.”
For me, that said everything. It showed me that these changes weren’t just technical; they helped me speak in a way that actually lands with people. That’s what has made this Mastery so worthwhile.
