"The quest provided me with the techniques, tools and systems to become an effective coach"

The Mindvalley Certified Life Coach (MCLC) quest took me on a journey of self-discovery and the self-realisation that many of the things that happened in my life, were not by pure coincidence.
It is a truly transformative program skillfully designed and delivered by trainers and coaches who value the enriching diversity of their coachees and perspectives.
I enrolled in the MCLC quest in October 2023, four and half months after I resigned my job as Ombudsman for my country of birth, Samoa, because of an illness in my family, and moved back to the United Kingdom. The uncertainty created by the unplanned resignation, the sudden change in my circumstances from a working professional to a carer, were compounded by exhaustion from the move, long distance travel and adjusting to a new pace of life. The change however, gave me the mind space, the quietness and solitude to re-evaluate my life thus far. The prevailing question that always came to my mind on my long walks was, 'what next'? Notwithstanding my long career in law, international development and the civil service, I was somehow not fulfilled. Digging deep into my childhood and my past work and life experience, I now wanted to find out what my mind was really capable of and how I can contribute of my experience and skills to my community and to the world at large. I wanted to do it on my own terms and in my own time unconstrained by bureaucracy and other people's rules and expectations.
I discovered Mindvalley on one of my walks as I listened to a podcast and signed up the same day, in August 2023. The first quest I took was The Silva Ultramind System. Through the meditation practices taught in this quest, I was drawn to coaching as perhaps the answer to my 'what next' question and the following month, I signed up for the Mindvalley Life Coach quest October cohort.
Throughout my legal career, I mentored junior lawyers and other professionals both nationally and internationally. It is a role I loved and enjoyed and I hoped a training in coaching would place me in a role to continue to help others grow and develop.
Any doubts about coaching as the 'what next' phase for me, was removed almost immediately when the lessons began and was replaced by curiosity and a thirst to learn more. I felt that the course resonated with who I am but, I was shackled by the influence of my culturescape on the career I pursue and other expectations of me. The MCLC quest helped me overcome such limiting influence and accompanying beliefs. This was the biggest and important positive change for me because I struggled to rid myself of my culturescape and I knew it was holding me back. Once I 'got over myself', I felt free to pursue what resonates with my soul. I truly want to coach others and to help them grow and overcome their challenges. Another area in my life where there has been a huge positive change, is my mindset. The quest taught the effects and consequences of a fixed mindset as opposed to a growth mindset. Growth and success start in the mind and the quest dedicated three lessons on 'Organise Your Mind'. Through a changed mindset, I am now able to prepare workable and sustainable work plans for my projects based on a clearer vision of my end goals.
The MCLC quest provided me with the techniques, tools and systems to become an effective coach. the resources are vast and I feel privileged to access the insights of renowned coaches such as Rich Litvin and Marisa Peer among others. I value, and am encouraged by, the straight talking by our trainers and coaches. I would recommend this quest to anyone who wishes to transform their lives and the lives of others.
My three takeaways during and after completion of the quest are:
1. Personal transformation can be achieved with the right tools, techniques, resources and effective coaching that focuses on YOU, the client.
 2. You do not have to constrained by limiting beliefs and a fixed mindset.
 3. Ask the 3 Most Important Questions and reflect on Lofty Questions for a powerful and dynamic transformation.
I thank our trainers and coaches for the most amazing journey you have given me. My true calling begins at 65!
