Before beginning the MCH program, every aspect of my life was in a state of complete upheaval. My 16-year marriage to my best friend, my business partner, and the mother of my four children had recently ended with her affair with one of her patients. As a result of my ostracism from the business we’d created, and of my subsequent penury, I had to relocate 400 miles from my children into a long-vacant property my father had in Tennessee. It was there, with the last of my marital assets, that I decided to enroll in this hypnotherapy certification.
I have long been fascinated with hypnosis. I worked briefly with another chiropractor who had integrated hypnosis into his practice. I have also, for several years, been interested in developing a fitness/nutrition/lifestyle course to teach in person, and online, to patients and remote clients. From my studies and personal experiences, I have the foundation for developing such a class. But I didn't have any experience teaching such a class. Nor did I have any training or specific tools I felt comfortable with for motivating students and helping them develop and foster a mindset for change and growth. But that changed when I began absorbing the lessons so wonderfully presented by Paul, Steve, and Tina.
During the program, my fascination with hypnosis and the power of the unconscious mind grew deeper and deeper. I began to notice beautiful parallels between hypnosis and chiropractic. In Chiropractic philosophy, Innate Intelligence is the aspect of Universal Intelligence that guides all processes and interactions within living organisms. In a sense, hypnosis gives us a direct line to our innate intelligence. It gets the conscious filters out of the way. And our innate intelligence has access to all of the universal intelligence - therefore access to all of the human experience. And that is a powerful tool for helping patients and clients make the shift often necessary for personal growth.
The lessons and techniques presented in this program gave me concrete, actionable information. And it is information that I can use to help not only the patients and clients that may join a wellness program but also an enormous range of other sorts of clients as well. So not only will the material I have learned help with my initial goals, but it is a wonderful avenue by which I can help a greater range of clients to achieve their goals, as well.
An unexpected business complication for a former employer of mine brought me back, temporarily, to the northern Virginia area (nearer my children) at the beginning of February. Just 2 days ago, the same day I completed my final required hour of practice for this certification, I was given the approval to rent living quarters that can accommodate myself and my children here in northern Virginia.
I have been working on surrender, acceptance, and forgiveness for nearly 2 years now. And I have been awed and amazed to watch one thing after another unfold serendipitously to lead me on this transformative journey. My discovery of Mindvalley through the Jose Silva Ultramind course was one of those serendipitous steps. My discovery of the myriad benefits of hypnosis and NLP is another. I am very excited to begin mixing all of this together and see what grows. It has been a wild and difficult ride, but I can't wait to see where it is going from here!
