My kids have always thought I was weird. They make fun of me for all the strange things I read, learn about, listen to. It's a sport around here to mock me for my strange ideas and beliefs. And my clothes. ? But that's not why it was shocking. You see, a few years ago, our daughter was going through an issue at school which spilled over into our home. It was a very difficult time for our family, lots of drama and chaos. My husband and I felt like we were in over our heads. We struggled to deal with the issue. You never really get good at parenting because each child is so different. Even though she is our 4th child, we still struggled. Different child, different issues.
At that time, we listened to Dr. Shefali's Conscious Parenting course and it helped immensely., We would sit, huddled in the kitchen around my phone, taking notes furiously. We each listened to it a second time on our own. Things started to improve, the problem was resolved. It was a miracle.
After the incident resolved, my husband got curious about Mindvalley and started to listen to other programs. He started to morph and grown, change and transform right before my eyes. THAT was a miracle. He went from being completely disinterested in it to fully committed. He even got his own membership. I’m ecstatic. And our relationship is getting better & better as we both become better & better.
When Mindvalley came out with their teen programming, I asked my kids to do it. They all laughed and refused. And then, last night, my daughter said she would listen to it. Full disclosure, it was because we had taken her phone away and she wanted it back but SHE came up with the idea of listening to the program in order to get the phone back. I was dumbfounded. And grateful. I admit, a tear came to my eye. Here's something funny...in the video, there is an exercise where you are supposed to write down who you want to be after the quest is over. My daughter wrote down, "I want to be a person with a cellphone." We both laughed hard when she wrote that. Honestly, though, she's interested I think. I gave her a beautiful journal to use and I'm hoping that the quest helps her on her way.
Our 17 year old son saw us listening and said, "What would you give me if I did that quest?" I didn't miss a beat. I said, "I'll give you $100." At which point, he consented to do it too. I know you shouldn't bribe your kids to do Mindvalley quests but, hey, we have a lot of kids, we need to use all the tools at our disposal. ?♀️ So, miracles do happen.,
Because of Mindvalley, my husband who was never interested in any of this stuff started down the path. And now two of my kids are doing a quest. It's amazing, isn't it? This is my dream, it's coming true. All thanks to Mindvalley.
