"I want to shed myself of those traditional behaviors and raise children who feel supported, loved, and can ride the wave of life"

Before this program, the role of parenting is by far the hardest experience I have ever had. You go through so much training to drive a car or guidelines to serve on a jury in the US, but you get zero training on how to parent. Going through my own self-therapy, I see that so much pain was triggered in childhood, not because I didn't believe my parents didn't love and care for me. Its that I didn't feel like I mattered, felt lost at school, and faced depression through key milestones in my life. I am lucky I have the skills to overcome them but I am still on that journey. Coming from an East Indian culture, you are only successful if you get married and have kids. That judgment is placed on you by others who also have no idea what they are doing. I want to shed myself of those traditional behaviors and raise children who feel supported, loved, and can ride the wave of life. With that, they can choose their path, not worry about what others perceive them.
