How Speak and Inspire Helped Me Find My Voice
When I joined Speak and Inspire Mastery, I thought I was there to polish my professional skills. I wanted to feel more confident during my weekly BNI presentations and nail my 10-minute feature. But I also gained storytelling skills that helped me connect more deeply with others, which I hadn't expected.
But the most significant transformation didn't happen in a business room. It happened in my home, where I learned that storytelling could rebuild and strengthen personal relationships, which I hadn't realized was possible before.
My daughter stopped listening to my stories when she was 13. She had "Dad Story Fatigue." She is now in her late 20s, and I assumed that part of our relationship was over. I figured that was just the way things were going to be.
I was wrong.
Somewhere along this Mastery journey, as I practiced telling stories rather than just delivering information, I felt a profound shift. I stopped rambling and learned to focus on connection. She started listening again. She started responding. She began engaging with me in a way I had not experienced in more than fifteen years.
Storytelling helped us reconnect on a new level.
Eric and the guest teachers didn't just teach speaking techniques. They helped me develop presence and the courage to express from the heart. I trusted the process—even when it felt uncomfortable—and it made me feel more confident in myself and my abilities.
Recently, I was asked to record a short video for a fundraising gala regarding my volunteer mentoring work. I used the program's structure to share a story about my mentee and me. The response was incredible. People were moved, they leaned in, and the story helped inspire meaningful donations for the cause.
Speak and Inspire Mastery absolutely made me a stronger speaker. But more importantly, it helped me become a better father and a better human being in my community.
I came here to improve my voice. I stayed because I learned how to use it to connect truly, which transformed my relationships and my sense of self.
