I had just had my first taste of hypnotherapy with the Mindvalley quest, “Rapid Transformational Hypnotherapy for Abundance”, by Marisa Peer. It catapulted me from a struggling medically retired Army veteran that had the potential to realize the hypnotherapy I received was beckoning me to utilize it. Tap into my truths towards empowering other veterans to live a life of purpose on the civilian side of their existence. So, upon this instinctual pull in my gut, I put out a signal to the universe, for guidance, to support my desired awakening. Within about a week the “Mindvalley Certified Hypnotherapist” instructed by Paul McKenna came shining on my radar. It was time to take a bold chance, not only to transform my current world. But even more so, to truly create a transmutation of my life trajectory and the path of other lives as we knew them.
I felt the bubbling of excitement, curiosity, and hopes for the applicable skills that would be utilized in the massive healing of this world, for many generations to come. It felt beautifully possible to gravitate towards and overwhelmingly ginormous at the same time. In other words, the idea that I would no longer allow my life to play out as is and confidently expand responsibly towards a thriving symbiotic impact blew my mind. Still, my heart very much knew it was the step I was seeking, needing, and being called to take.
Straight away, I signed up and started to chip away at the tasks within the certification introduction. I figured focusing on one thing at a time and checking it off would help keep the engulfing feelings, that came with the importance of the accreditation, at bay. For the most part, from a logistical standpoint, it did.
Actually, the main thing I ran up against, emotionally at first, was the intimidation of how many people were taking the course. This meant my shy self would potentially have to interact with them and the private part of my story, being a medically retired Army veteran, would eventually come out. I felt this most when creating my personal introduction for the online class group, Telegram. I found the challenge of getting vulnerable mentally frustrated me, but I knew I had to take the chance and put myself out there. Transparency resonated strongly in my instincts. The important takeaway is that after posting about myself the student group was very accepting of who I was, medically retired Army veteran and all. Furthermore, reading other posts reminded me that we were all here to be vulnerable and learn together.
Speaking of Telegram. It was pretty easy to follow and get set up. Instructions were provided and there was support to answer any questions I had. It was Telegram that became the main place I would receive dates/times and links of important updates. Not only did the platform keep me on track, but it was also key for setting up practice sessions and connecting with other students. Telegram, along with google calendar, kept me organized as my work rhythm became smooth and more refined.
Another important component that helped level my path was the framework for doing each lesson. It was brilliant throughout this course and I believe that I learned the material better with less stress because of it. Inevitably, it perfectly set me up for implementing what I learned. This allowed me to show up prepared when interacting with classmates and feel a sense of ease as I triumphed each week that was presented. The learning format was interwoven throughout the videos/readings underneath the videos (Mindvalley Certified Hypnotherapist course/quest website), the four journals and manual (printed), and the action steps for each lesson (website and printed materials). All of which was to be utilized alongside the live Q&A and practice labs.
Something to keep in mind, as mentioned in the previous paragraph, is that the learning was most effective for me when I printed out the four journals/manuals to read and write in. Reading and writing in a tangible book form rather than only on my computer supported better learning personally through my mind/body connectivity.
A wonderful aspect, also found within this framework, was the continuous opportunity to ask questions with each weekly set of lessons. At first, I was intimidated and thought my questions would sound stupid, so I didn’t ask. When I finally did, thank goodness, I found my questions were answered quickly and directly. That was a fantastic helpful bonus, especially with how many students there were in the program. My questions would also most likely be answered during the live Q&A as well. A couple of times the questions I submitted were even asked during the live Q&A, which felt quite validating, to be honest. That wouldn’t have happened if I had stayed stuck in the limiting beliefs I had.
I believe my success was also found in not just settling for the bare minimum of what was required to receive the certification. Which trust me, is feasible compared to some other certifications out there. For instance, it was important to show up to labs more than once a week, even though only one per week was required. The more practice the better. Plus, each lab would refine upon the last or be slightly different, hence providing more ways of practicing one thing. Also leaning into practice with others, classmates, and non-classmates was very supportive of successful learning as well.
A note about the labs was that they recorded them and came with scripts so you could write details down later upon review. This way you could be fully present, practice paying attention to your subject and really absorb the material in a progressive way. The note-taking and scripts were not necessary at the moment because, with good intentions, there was very little way to mess up what you were practicing. It allowed me to set aside the fear of my meticulous mind and just be curious about the learning itself. Overall, this opened the freedom for me to trust myself, take chances and feel empowered to exercise skills in and outside of the practice time provided.
The Q&A sessions were all recorded and had transcripts of the questions asked as well. As similar in the prior paragraph, I was able to show up and be present for the live calls without worrying about missing something. I could just absorb the material. I found it rewarding to learn the content twice. I attended every Q&A because it was what was important to me, and honestly it was enjoyable to show up for.
Also, just another sidenote to put any mind at ease. They gave the option that if a live Q&A call had to be missed that you could watch the recording and it would still count towards the 80% you had to attend.
The special thing about the Q&A, the labs, and the recording placement in lessons was that they not only gave you a chance to relearn the material but review the material from weeks before while currently learning new information. It was amazing how the information learned would build on the lessons prior. This evidential growth style really did a great job to establish baseline skills and shape further lessons on top of that. All skills were used, reviewed, and applied continuously in the course. Such strategic encouragement was crucial in paving the way for us to become not only successful students in the coursing but to be professional students of this hypnotherapy trade for a lifetime.
The process of becoming a professional in this field has helped me to see that I will not only be working with veterans but can work with a variety of people of all ages. I have already seen this beautiful safe container of learning supporting my practice with fellow veterans, friends, family, and classmates. It's outstanding to witness their life trajectories changing from just one hypnotherapy session. Although I have had the honor to work with some individuals more than once.
It has been my hope that the opportunity this course has allowed me, has shined a light on others. Not only during the time we work together, which I get to witness and am so very grateful for, but during their day-to-day lives of impact. That, as hypnotherapy has had such radical positivity on my life, it has opened doorways for others to be empowered, find self-betterment, be of service, and shine the way for others to gleam their light as well.
It’s incredible to be over 3 months into the program and almost done. I feel so much more confident and clearer-minded in myself. The knowledge that I have about my present and future path shows I am meant to be on this trajectory right now and it could not be at a better time. I’m filled with such gratitude for the affirmations that started to be shown to me almost right away at the beginning of this Mindvalley Certified Hypnotherapist course and are still being shown to me through the instructors, assistants, coaches, fellow students and so many more at present moment. I feel so blessed to have had such support throughout this journey. The confirmations have reflected me to continue to shine and grow in the gifting I bring to this world, hypnotherapy being one of them.
I look forward to being a part of the upcoming move to Austin, TX, as my partner is starting a new job. I see Austin as the perfect place for me to start my own business in Nature-Connected Life Coaching and Mindvalley Certified Hypnotherapy, combined. I also look forward to diving deeper and adding on further education toward mastery of my hypnotherapy pursuits. I can’t wait to learn how to run my own business and become the most amazing practitioner, who empowers the masses to shine their light in whatever life endeavors they can imagine.
I would like to conclude by saying a few words to my younger self from over 3 months ago and to anyone that is getting started on this journey. Beginning something new that you know almost nothing about can be nervous-making. Remember that those feelings can either be felt to make you anxious or with a different thought can change to the feeling of excitement. Choose to enthusiastically celebrate, for you are embarking on a wonderful adventure. Know that any fear you feel, any apprehension you know, any overwhelm you can barely bear will become insignificant and powerless. This quest that you are embracing is supported by a safe container, guided by the best of the best, and is so enlightening that you will only look back to your past so you may learn how truly expansive your future really is. Enjoy!!!
