There were still some areas of my life that I believed could be improved upon, which is why I choose Be Extraordinary when it was offered three months ago. When I started this program, there were two areas I wanted to focus on: creating a beautiful loving relationship with a man who wanted to experience growth with me, and learning to accept credit for the career I had created for myself 30 years ago, and to turn my knowledge into something I could use as a contribution to help others coming into the field of costuming.
While finding a romantic partner to share my growth path with has proved challenging thus far, finding recognition and the ability to "pay it forward" in my profession has suddenly exploded in ways I would have never imagined! Back in the beginning of March, just about a week after I completed the course, I started working on a film project. One evening as my supervisor and I were leaving work, she stopped and shared with me that a well known and respected costume designer had told her that I was "the only person right for this job" and that she had to hire me! The following week, two of my co-workers, separately took me aside and told me how much they admired my work ethic and that they were learning so much working side by side with me! I felt so humbled it brought tears to my eyes! This was the manifestation made real of the contribution I wanted to make. But it got even better after that! I few days later, our production went down because of the mandate ordering all film work stopped and everyone to stay at home. I was contacted by no less than three entities over the next month to talk on the air about how the pandemic affected me personally, and my industry as a whole. First, KCRW's "The Business" asked me what advice I could give to others in my situation. Then German television network ZDF reached out after hearing me on KCRW. They asked me to show their viewers what I do in the course of a working day as a costumer, then filmed me meditating in my backyard (while listening to the Six Phase Meditation!). Lastly, online podcast JBTV interviewed me about my film career, and my background as a dancer and wedding officiant. They gave me a platform to share some of my knowledge and skills with others in the creative community and a place to express how passionate I am about my craft. I've included that video with my story. I'm truly grateful to Vishen and the entire Mindvalley community for giving me the tools to grow beyond what I thought possible in my life. Through Be Extraordinary, I've been able to manifest some of my Most Important Questions: having experiences leading to growth that in turn allowed me to contribute to those around me. I plan to go back to the program now and apply these same principles to my love life and I am excited to see the results it will bring! There is truly no greater gift than investing in oneself, to create what you wish to become and share with the world! I will be a Mindvalley student for the rest of my life!
